- Tera Term is Tera Term Pro 2.3 succession version and is being officially recognized by the original author. Tera Term is open source free software terminal emulator supporting UTF-8 protocol. Now TTSSH supports SSH2 protocol (Original version supports SSH1).
- I have not used coolterm on the mac (haven't used a mac in years), but coolterm on windows is a great terminal program (and I have used many emulators and a few vt100s in the last 35 or so years).

Tera Term (rarely TeraTerm) is an open-source, free, software implemented, terminal emulator (communications) program. It emulates different types of computer terminals, from DEC VT100 to DEC VT382. It supports telnet, SSH 1 & 2 and serial port connections. It also has a built-in macro scripting language and a few other useful plugins.
Tera Term on 32-bit and 64-bit PCs
This download is licensed as freeware for the Windows (32-bit and 64-bit) operating system on a laptop or desktop PC from ssh/telnet clients without restrictions. Tera Term 4.105 is available to all software users as a free download for Windows 10 PCs but also without a hitch on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
